The recently elected Outcasts board is already ahead of the game when it comes to fundraising. Their goal this coming season is to create an opportunity for those who want to work hardest at it, to be able to fund raise the majority of the season’s costs. With times as tight as ever, the board is on the look out for opportunities for families and teams to bring in much needed funds to help cover the ever expensive game of hockey. With a holiday Poinsettia selling campaign already completed the path is laid for even more opportunities as we approach the start of the year.

With the Outcasts forming under a new acquired 501 C 3 non-profit, the doors are blown open with new avenues for both individuals and families to bring in some much needed extra financial help, while having fun and getting to know the others in the organization. Outcasts Alumni and coaching staff take 2nd place in the NCRHA Nationals with the ASU Sun Devils

Last year’s WCRHL regular season champions, the ASU Sun Devils continued their winning ways last April at the NCRHA nationals at the Silver Creek Sports Complex in San Jose, California. The Sun Devils made their first Elite 8 and Final Four appearances winning both rounds and advancing to the championship game against power house dynasty Lindenwood University. The first period Lindenwood came out strong advancing to a comfortable 3-0 lead and holding ASU to zero shots.  The Sun Devils rallied back in the second and third evening shots up as Outcasts Alumni Tyler Koressel buried the Sun Devils single goal of the game.  Taking the first period out the of the equation, Koressel and the rest of the ASU squad held the 9 time national champion Lindenwood Lions to what would’ve been a 2-1 game. All in all, a very impressive showing for a second year college program who bested NCRHA D1 super teams Michigan State (5-4) and Buffalo (9-1).

The 2011 season will see the Sun Devils rosters once again adding players who developed through the Outcasts program. Mike Rivera, Outcasts ’92 fixture and offensive power house since 2006 made the move from El Paso, Texas to Tempe this August to add his talent to the full returning Sun Devil roster.  Another past Outcasts player CJ Hawley joins the Sun Devils “B” development team this season as well. Hawley brings with him an intensity and desire to push himself and his teammates to their full potential. Rivera and Hawley join an ever growing list of Outcasts players who are discovering there is competitive roller hockey beyond youth travel.

Outcasts 3on3 League Winter Season Starts January 6th.

Due to overwhelming demand the Outcasts 3on3 league will be doing a second season starting January 6th 2011.  In the fall of 2009 the Outcasts program launched 3on3 to keep our players and their friends in their inline skates after NARCh finals and between seasons.  We continued the program in October of 2010. This go around the age ranges were set at ‘97’s through ‘93’s. The success of the sold out Fall 2010 season looks to carry over into a second season starting in January and rolling through late February.

With a strong emphasis on puck possession and odd man rush opportunities, the differences in age and size never seems to matter. Goalies face a ton of shots and high percentage scoring opportunities with game scores in the double digits in just 36 short minutes of playing time. A fast paced format of inline hockey similar to Iron Man tournaments with no stoppages of play after goals and immediate penalty shots on any minor penalty assessed, 3on3 is an excellent way to keep skills fresh for ice and/or inline.

Teams made up of 6 players and 1 goalie may form on their own or individuals can sign up and be placed on team.  With a low cost of $75 per player ($55 for goalies), the 7 week season comes out to less than $11 per game.

3on3 is played at the NYS Center in Peoria (formerly known as Rollerplex) on Thursday evenings. Game times are 5:30 and 6:15 PM. We do our very best to work rosters and schedules around the always difficult schedules of the valley’s ice hockey.

Existing players from the Fall Season receive “priorty registration” and have until December 27th to re-reserve their spot. After 12/27 open registration begins for the remaining spots. Spots will be awarded on a first come, first serve basis. If you’re new to 3on3 and would like to get on the list for an open spot, contact us today at coaches@outcastshockey.com
